In two separate meetings held at the Presidency concerning the draught and post-drought relief aid efforts, the team charged with the task of distribution, coordination and soliciting for drought relief aid gave their closing accounts in a balance sheet that was verified as articulate.
The Presidency Minister Hon. Mohammed Hashi Abdi noted at the function that at least the committee that comprised of eminent personalities drawn from the clergy, entrepreneurs and civil society had at least acknowledged the tough coordination tasks that the government was bestowed upon.
He commended them for their diligence and asserted the need for stepping up transparency and accountability.
In the subsequent second meeting of the day that brought all the stakeholders together, the minister talked of the importance of unifying the services of both committees for better coordination.
He said that the imperativeness of dealing as a unit to address the situation was quite important.
One committee was mainly charged with the task of distributing the relief aid during the famine.
